E-hasil with WinXP and IE on Qemu

Ok maybe not once a year :-) ,  but for this particular task, XP and Internet Explorer were quite useful. Then again, we didn’t have that much options do we?

Maybe IE on Wine would have worked, but I didn’t have much time, ahem. Anyone bothered to try it out? I went ahead with an Win XP (image) on Qemu instead. Do people still dual-boot (or triple) these days? :-)

I hope you meet the April 30th deadline.

Assalammualaikum,

OK the results is a tie, not bad if you consider the David vs Goliath scenario.  For me, I’ve got the feeling that Ubuntu will rules Linux desktop for a foreseeable future and Vista will be just another Windows ME.  Of course, I’m bias ;-)

Here is the article.

Oh yeah, I’ve been going places allright. Its definitely good in one sense - learn new things, meet new people, see how things are done and  share knowledge with others. A couple of interesting things to share, oss and not so oss related:

  • On the flight to Frankfurt, I noticed that the system they had for movies and flight information is running on Linux. I saw the penguin while the system is rebooting :-). Maybe others can confirm this.
  • The good thing about travelling is that you get to catch up on books (not e-books ok). I forgot which airport it was, but I ran out of reading materials and I didn’t want to read man pages, so I went ahead bought a Dean’s Koontz novel. w00t! On another trip I borrowed Shakirs’ book. If you aint’t got the time, you can watch the video here.
  • Picked up a couple of new tools - nfsen and nfdump for doing cool stuff with netflow data. Also learned from others  things you can do with honeyd and nepenthes. For conducting training, I’ve started to use VMWare Server and VMPlayer a lot. I highly recommend them.

That’s all for now.

Assalammualaikum and a very good day,

OK, the secret is out, programmers don’t like to code.  Sound like oxymoron, huh?  No, it’s true, otherwise we all will be writing in assembly languages and re-written our own HTTP clients from scratch.  Read it here.

According to the article, programmers actually like to solve problems that are interesting to them.  In order to do so, they have to code.

I think this is why Python rocks, it will let you read and re-use other people code easily.

OK, back to Python coding now.  I want to solve some interesting problems today by modifying someone else codes because I’m a programmer, at least to my supervisor ;-)

I found a firefox module (or add-on, or whatever they call it) for posting to your blog sites. This will allow me to post to multiple sites using a single editor. Nice.
